Faculty Technology Showcase – Friday, February 20

Even in this grim economy there is such a thing as a free lunch… for you on Friday, February 20th!
You are cordially invited to the Second Annual Faculty Technology Showcase “Using Media in Teaching” featuring your MSU colleagues sharing new media tools they are using in their courses. Sponsored by the MSU College of Engineering, the MSU College of Education, and the Office of Libraries, Computing, and Technology, the showcase will take place on Friday, February 20, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the new classroom and learning spaces on the first floor of Erickson Hall.
We’ll provide lunch in the form of sandwiches and beverages for the first 75 or 80 people attending. If more people than that let us know beforehand we’ll order extra food.
Our agenda:
- Registration and lunch start at 11:15 a.m. in the Erickson Hall front lobby, during which people can meet colleagues, discuss the program, and explore the new features of the area.
- At 12:00 noon we’ll have a keynote presentation from Punya Mishra from the MSU College of Education speaking, with his usual light hearted style, on the pedagogy of using media in teaching and learning.
- From 12:30 to about 1:30 you’ll have a chance to chat with over a dozen of your colleagues who will demonstrate their uses of video, audio, and other media tools in a hands-on “poster” session environment. Among those demonstrating their work will be Steve Yelon and Brandon Blinkenberg, Kirk Domer, Dennie Hoopingarner, Christina DeJong, and Adele Denison, to name only a few. They’ll show you what they’ve done, how they’ve done it, and how it works in their courses.
The workshop is generously sponsored by the MSU College of Engineering, the MSU College of Education, and the Office of Libraries, Computing and Technology.
